Control Panel lets you set five features of your Newton according to the time of day and power source:
Alarms - You can set as many alarms as you need, alarms will open any application you want when they go off.
Backlighting - Backlighting will be turned on at night, when you are plugges in, when you are on the road, or always. It is up to you!
Open Applications - Automatically open application depending on the time and worksite.
Sleep Delay - Set the sleep delay to never when plugged during the day, 10 minutes when you are plugged in at night and 5 minutes when you are not plugged in.
Worksites - Depending on the time of day and power source the Newton will automatically choose your worksite!
Control Panel lets you set five features of your Newton according to the time of day and power source. To set these features you must open Control Panel and set your options from within.
Alarms - To set an alarm tap on the leftmost column in Control Panels main screen. A new screen will open showing you all of the alarms for that application. Tapping on the overview button (the button between the arrows) will toggle to show you all alarms. Tap the 'New' button will open a dialog to set a new alarm. To delete or change an alarm, tap on the item to modify, and edit from the window which opens.
Backlighting - To set your Backlighting you must do 2 things. Set the worsite you wish for the Backlighting Conditions and then either: a) Tap on the time column next to Backlighting to set the times Backlighting should be turned on (see below for a description for using the 'time bar') b) tap on the Sleep column to turn on Backlighting after a certain amount of time that the Newton has been asleep, or c) Check the Reboot box to turn on Backlighting every time the Newton is rebooted.
Open Applications - Opening applications is done the same way as turning on backlighting.
Sleep Delay - To set the sleep delay tap on the 'Sleep' button in the status bar. Set the sleep delay from the window which opens (see below for a description for using the 'time bar').
Worksites - To set your Worksites tap on the 'Sites' button in the status bar. Set the Worksites from the window which opens (see below for a description for using the 'time bar').
USING THE TIME BAR
The 'time bar' is used throughout Control panel. It consists of a setting label, a long time bar, and an up-down arrow (for scrolling). To use the bar, first tap on the label and choose the option you want. Then tap on the time bar. The bar will be colored in according to your selection from the label above.
WARNING!!! -- Do NOT freeze Control Panel. It will not work if you do!
